St. Louisville was platted in 1839 along the North Fork of the Licking River, and it has stayed genuinely small: 352 people at the 2020 census, in about a quarter of a square mile. The population has barely moved in decades — 346 in 2000, 373 in 2010 — which tells you there is essentially no new construction here.

So every job is a replacement, in a house that is old. That gives a predictable set of conditions. Plank subfloors over joists that have settled unevenly. Floors that are out of level enough to matter to a rigid-core product. Layers of previous flooring that have raised the finished height, so casings and door bottoms need attention when it all finally comes out.
