Carpet in Dublin

Built for Dublin homes.

John Sells settled Dublin in 1808 and his Irish business partner gave it the name; it incorporated in 1881 and had 681 residents as recently as 1970. Then Interstate 270 arrived and the population rose 466.1% in a decade, reaching 49,328 at the 2020 census. Historic Dublin's limestone buildings sit in the middle of a city that is otherwise almost entirely modern, and the flooring standard here is high.

Dublin was settled by John Sells in 1808 and named by his Irish business partner after Dublin, Ireland. It incorporated in 1881 and stayed small for a very long time — 681 people in 1970. Interstate 270 changed that: the population rose 466.1% to 3,855 by 1980 and reached 49,328 at the 2020 census. A 2012 estimate put median household income at $114,183, with 2.1% of families below the poverty line.

The town is effectively two things. Historic Dublin is nineteenth-century, built in local limestone, and the houses around it have the structural profile of their age: plank subfloors, settled joists, decks outside modern flatness tolerance, original hardwood under later flooring. A wide, heavily textured contemporary plank sits badly in rooms like that; something narrower at a lower sheen does not.

Everything else is post-1970 suburb, much of it built to a high specification. Muirfield Village has hosted the Memorial Tournament since 1976 along with the 1987 Ryder Cup and the 2013 Presidents Cup, and the housing around it reflects the market. Cardinal Health, Wendy's, OCLC and Stanley Steemer are headquartered in the city.

On houses at that end of the market the finish is the whole job. Long open sightlines mean a continuous plank run across a large floor, and every deviation in the deck below shows — more so on a wide-plank specification, because a wider board bridges further before it touches down. Flatness gets checked against tolerance before material is ordered, not after. Stairs get measured individually, with open sides and returns mitered on site.

Dublin is a shop-at-home market for us and it suits the work. We bring the samples to the house, look at them in the rooms they are going into, measure while we are there, and put the whole project into one written proposal. Installed products carry the same lifetime warranty as everything else we fit.

The in-home appointment is complimentary and carries no obligation.
